BW of the Week

This was taken on October 17, 2007, soon after Bobo was first introduced to the baba.  I think this is Week 9.  Seems like he spent all day eating, and I got to spend all that time cuddling him up!  I miss those babas.  :)

Nine Weeks and Sleepy

Arin's weekly "birthdays" are on Sunday, so each new week is another week old. This week he turned nine weeks, and today we had his two-month doctor's visit. Everything went well, he is the picture of health and still the cutest thing ever according to the staff, not to mention extremely happy. The doctor was impressed that he's already giggling (he was having so much fun 'playing' with her during the exam'), and the nurses were talking about how content and happy he is, and said that you can always tell the babies (like Arin) who get lots of attention at home because they are calmer and sweeter. He weighs in at 10 lbs, 11ozs (25th percentile) and is 23 1/2 inches long (75th percentile), with a head circumference of 39 1/2 inches (50th percentile). So, he's very tall and thin still.

Then, unfortunately, he had to get his shots, three of them and a weird drink. My poor baby cried, but only for a little while. And now he's been sleeping most of the day, which is rare since he hardly ever naps (but now he sleeps through the night, finally some rest!). Also, today was the day the cats were neutered, so I have three little baby boys sitting around the house not feeling so great. :(

Two Months Old!

I have been posting what few pictures I have put up to facebook, so head on over there to take a look. I'm slowly editing more... I hope to have an entry for each week Arin's been around. So, here are some pictures from week 8!

Arin has been doing so well. He's still pretty slender but he likes to eat a lot still. He's been smiling and happy since birth but now he's making all kinds of happy noises too, his vocalizations are definitely increasing. His hair is growing in golden blond, of all things! He has this long dark brown hair and golden roots, its quite interesting. He's also learned that he can make things move by kicking, such as the sheep that hang in his bassinet, which are currently his favorite little 'friends'. He's just so sweet and cuddly, even when he's crying!

More of him younger (and older) to come later!

BW of the Week

Taken on September 20th, Bobo got dressed up for Christmas early in his adorable Santa pajamas.  I know its months away but I couldn't help myself.  Also he's sucking on his Winnie the Pooh pacifier and sleeping like a little angel, aww.

Sweet Cheeks

Bobo looks so sweet with his kissable cheeks and 'lover's lips' as Noni says.  His eyes are still that dark blue color, turning slowly into dark brown.  And of course, he's sporting a nifty little mohawk with his super fine soft baby hair.

BW of the Week

Okay, so this is still Week 1... two pics for the first week!  This was taken August 7th, two days after the little munchkin was born.  The midwife was telling me how much they liked having their bottom's patted, and it was true, he liked it!

BW of the Week - First

So here's the start of my Black and White of the Week project... Week 1!  Picture for Bobo's first week, taken just after he was born and finally in my arms. This entry is backdated from 2011, I will go back and try to do every week from all four years since he was born.

Here at Last!

Arin Thomas McGilvray was born on August 5th at 9:12 am. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces (not the nine pounder they predicted!) and was 20.5 inches long. He took his time and gave us a few scares but now he's ten days old and doing great. Not to mention he's the cutest thing in the whole world. Here are some pictures from the hospital.

Pictures from Second Ultrasound

It's not letting me post these with the previous post, so here they are, separately. We finally scanned in the pictures from Ultrasound #2. I sharpened them up and such in Photoshop, and once again presented them unmarked and then with little labels so you can tell what you're looking at. Isn't he cute?? ;)

Second Ultrasound

This week we went in for a second ultrasound. I was about 24 and a half weeks (reached the point of viability, yey!). Everything looked good, even though we had a grossly inept ultrasound tech. She wouldn't record the pictures on the cd or dvd we were *told* to bring, took forever to get the measurements that the last tech did in a few minutes, and printed us a measly two pictures that are horribly out of focus. Oh well, at least we only have to wait 15 more weeks before we get to see him in person!

The reason we were there was to get a better view of the spine, and everything looks perfect in that department. According to the tech's measurements this time (of which I am not extremely confident) we are measuring about four days ahead of schedule. The baby weighed in at 1 pound 11 ounces and is a bit over a foot long! He's getting so big in there! He was head down, with his hands clasped together resting on his cheek, and his legs crossed Indian-style (and yet he still managed to kick a bunch!). Something fun to see was - he has shapely calves, he looks like a little runner! And a cute little button nose, it's so tiny and well-shaped. All in all, he's doing very well and is developing just as he should. We can't wait to see him face-to-face. :)

I'll post the two new sonogram once we get them scanned, but they really just look like blurs of white and grey, nothing exciting!

Today I went through our pile of baby things, and decided to catalog them to see what we have so far. I took pictures of everything, which are posted below. (Thanks to Mom, Melissa and Katie for their wonderful contributions to the 'stash'!)

I'm also going to post our two baby registries here. We mostly have larger items on there right now and will be adding more small essentials as we go. We aren't really registering for any clothes or furniture. Clothes, because I think people would want to pick them out on their own if they get them (and I know I'll be buying lots!). And furniture since we are going to be using our Pack 'n Play as a bassinet/crib, changing table, and play yard - so we don't need any of those things, plus we are in an apartment and don't have room for much else right now. Mostly, the registries are just lists for my reference so I can keep track of what we will need to buy! :)

Both our registries are online, but the Babies 'R Us list is also available at their stores.

Ultrasound Pictures

So, without further ado, here are the pictures from the ultrasound! Our tech gave us four different 'poses' as printouts, even though she did take some other cute pictures of the feet and him sitting indian-style. Next time (if there is one) I'm going to bring a CD and hopefully get copies of all the bunch of shots. I've put up pictures plain so you can get the whole view, and then pictures with my little anatomy notes attached so you know what it is you're looking at. Enjoy!

And it's a ...

Today I went to see our baby for it's very first photo shoot! Pretty exciting, a little uncomfortable and vastly rewarding. Right off the bat we were told, and shown, that our little bundle is a BOY! And everything else looked good, he's measuring right on track and according to all the girls in the ultrasound department, is an extremely cute baby. :)

So, now I can start planning with more confidence, buying clothes and picking out colored stuff. And of course... deciding on a name. I had the perfect girl's name picked out... Aurora Concetta. But, I have no boys names at all! I like Connor a lot, I don't know if I'm 100% in love with it. I'm really nervous about giving birth and not having a name... since I still don't have names for the kittens and they are nine months almost! So cross your fingers that I will be able to find something wonderful and soon.
