Stocking Stalking

So... what have I been up to during my downtime this holiday season? Well, besides manically changing the theme and style of this blog about 50 different times (still going with that, btw), I've been touring holiday homes across the country. Legitimate stalking ensues (stocking stalking, hee hee!).

Nester's site has a grand Christmas Tour with over a THOUSAND links people submitted to posts about their holiday decor. I cannot resist. If you have an hour or a million, go check it out if you haven't already. Even though Christmas is over now, it's still super fun, trust me.

So, I may or may not post any more of my own holiday pictures... or post anything ever again.  :)

Christmas Tree Shopping

We got our tree a little late this year... but not as bad as other years when it seems we were out a few days before Christmas. We took it easy this time and just headed to the local town courts where the Lions Club was selling trees. It was *freezing* and we were the only ones there, so the two guys were jumping through hoops to sell us a tree. Which was even more funny because the first tree they showed us we liked, and then ended up getting after seeing them all... at least we all got some exercise I guess!

Of course they knew to ply the kids immediately with candy... though Arin was so smart and wouldn't take candy from strangers, I had to take it and give it to him. Safety first, hahah!

Speaking of safety... the way they secured our tree was almost certainly a safety violation. They had this extremely thin rope, like dental floss thin (okay it was kite string), and just wrapped it around the top and bottom of the tree.

Mom is here being like... there's no WAY that is going to stay, it's going to fall off. But the guys assured us the tree would make it 'to the rotary, or your money back'. The rotary is directly outside the lot, btw. After we pointed that out, they said fine, if something happened they would give us another tree for free... on December 26th. Nice.

So the six minute drive home took more like 20 because I was driving like an old grandma... and STILL the tree slipped halfway off the car! As you can see below, by the time we got home it was sticking way off to the side of Arin's window. But, we made it!!

Reading up on Halloween

How awesome are Halloween children's books? SO awesome. I'm so happy it's autumny everywhere and Halloween is right around the corner... but I don't want it to come too soon because by then fall will be nearly over. :/ I need to start thinking about costumes. Last year Bobo was a turkey and a cow... and a pumpkin at bedtime. :)

I don't know if he'll get the concept of Trick-or-Treating... but it won't be for lack of trying on my part... we have been reading lots of Halloween type material to prepare! Now we just have to wait for the cheesey Halloween movie marathons on ABC Family... oh MAN do I love those. I'm so excited (and lame).

P.S. How cute is Bobo's little smile in this last one? You know he's going to be super holiday crazy just like his looney mommy! :) Just wait 'til Christmas! We already borrowed 'The Polar Express' from the library since I read the book to him and he liked it so much (but he won't sit and watch it yet... I'll give it a few months).

Mother's Day Zoo

Happy Belated Mother's Day to everyone!

I have a bunch of pictures to put up and write about, but I've been busy preparing for finals and other stuff that I have a backlog. I hate backlogs! ;)

Here's a little bit of our Mother's Day... I hope everyone had a nice one, we certainly did! My Mom, Arin and I went to the Franklin Park Zoo (they were having a Treat your Mom day)... then drove around the Blue Hills Reservation looking for the Arnold Arboretum (for a very long time) then took a little... detour through downtown Boston. We finally made it home, and Julie had made us a yummy dinner of Chicken Marsala, and a very tasty golden lemon cake for dessert. Not to mention that the weather all day was completely GORGEOUS, a perfect sunny spring day.

I took a lot of pics of sleeping animals (they were all just PASSED out), and I'll maybe put up more later. We'll see how I do on my final and if I feel like facing the world afterward!

(This is what I wish I were doing instead of my project.) Ciao!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We forgot to make Leprechaun traps. :(
Maybe we'll have green pancakes instead.
And hopefully there'll be a leprechaun movie on! I love those.
(The Disney kind, not the scary horrifying kind...)

Christmas Picture

Well, the only Santa Arin's seen was last year and this year at the Library. There are a lot more up on facebook. It was a fun night, involving a real firetruck that Arin got to get up and play in, and the biggest Christmas tree ever lit up all pretty! Lots of fun for the little guy (and me, hee hee!)

Nothing fancy, but here he is:

The past few days when I've had spare moments they have been spent cleaning up baby barf or barfing myself. Oh, and we lost power for a day in that horrible ice storm. Our lines our still ripped off our house and in the driveway. Yey for safety, thanks National Grid for fixing it so promptly! Let me tell you, having to yak over and over again in a 20 degree bathroom is less than fun, in case you were wondering.
